How To Change Default Search Engine on Microsoft Edge Browser

The default browser in Windows 10 is Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Edge browser in Windows 10 comes with Bing as default search engine. When you type any words or any query in Microsoft Edge address bar, default search engine Bing is used to find information and websites matching to your search. Some users who want to use Google or other search engines such as DuckDuckGo or Yahoo have felt a little annoyed at Microsoft’s constant pushing for them to continue using Bing. Developers have somehow found a way for users to set Google as their default search engine on Edge.

To change default search engine in Microsoft Edge bing to Google using below steps. Note that if you change the default search engine in Edge, Cortana won’t talk to you.

1. Launch Microsoft Edge
2. Navigate to Google by typing “Google.com” in the URL box. The page should load fully before going to the next step. Close all other tabs and any other Edge windows so that the only one open is Google. Click the settings icon (…) then click Settings.


Scroll down the settings menu until you see the button that says, “View advanced settings,” which you should then click afterwards.

Continue to scroll down until you see the words, “Search in the address bar with.” In the selection field, choose the “Add new” option. You will see a list of all compatible search providers that support OpenGraph, and which you have recently visited.

At this point, you should be able to view Google.com under the list that says “Choose One.” By being able to choose Google.com from the list, you have successfully added and set Google as the default search engine.

If you find your desired search provider – which may not be Google or Bing – is already listed there, simply click on it to select it, then click Add as default to set it as the default search engine when searching via the Edge address bar.
If you also want Google to open automatically when you start Microsoft Edge, you need to set your
Open with page to Google:
Click the settings icon (…) then click Settings (as before).Now under Open with, select A specific page or pages

In the drop down box, select Custom then type google.com.au in the text box (where it says Enter a web address), then click the + sign to add google to the list
Now click the X next to about:start to remove that entry.
It should now look like this – the next time you start Edge, you should see the Google page.
