And correct any problems that may be preventing them from entering booting up normally. Windows Safe mode starts windows into a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers, disables unnecessary drivers and programs during the startup process. In Safe Mode, the startup programs, add-ons, etc, do not run. In other words, safe mode boot provides a simple, stripped-down version of the operating system which Didn’t load any startup programs, applications only use the most generic drivers. What is Safe Mode?

Safe Mode is Very useful for Troubleshooting problems with programs and drivers that might not start correctly or that might prevent Windows from starting correctly. Safe Mode can be a big help for diagnosing certain problems. For instance, it’s a great place to Identify the problem scan for corrupt system files, check for malware etc. Safe mode is different from the normal operating mode in that it uses default drivers and setting upon startup and the only system required software programs are loaded upon startup.

What are Different types of Safe Mode

Windows having Three Types of safe mode Options available.

  1. Boot Into Safe mode
  2. Safe Mode with Networking
  3. Safe Mode With command prompt

When you boot in Safe Mode the very basic configuration is loaded. You boot into a black desktop, and you may find that your fonts and icons look big and are not sharp. This is because only the very basic drivers are loaded. Here  You will have access to your Start Menu, as well as Mouse and Keyboard, and you will also be able to access your files. You will also see Safe Mode written on all four corners and your Windows version number in the top center.

When you boot into Safe Mode with Networking you are taken to your desktop with One extra set of drivers and those are the networking drivers that get loaded. This allows you to connect the computer to your network or the Internet.

When you boot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt, you do not boot in the Windows GUI. You are directly given access to an open Command Prompt window.

Different Ways To start Windows 10 into safe mode

Windows having different ways to Access the safe mode. On Windows 7 during the boot process, you can press F8 key to Access the Advanced options screen. here use the up and down Arrow keys to Access the safe mode, safe mode with networking or safe mode with command prompt.

But In Windows 10 boot procedure became faster than ever before so this F8 option doesn’t work. but using some other ways you can access the safe mode on windows 10. Here follow below.

Using System Configuration tool

Boot into safe mode using system Configuration Tool is very easy Here first Press Win + R and on Run, Type msconfig hit the enter key.This will open the System Configuration panel. Now Move to boot Tab And Check the Safe Boot bellow Boot options  ( As Shown bellow image ) To Start Windows into safe mode.

Here You can also choose from additional options.

Minimal:

Starts Safe Mode with the absolute minimal amount of drivers and services. with the standard Windows GUI (Graphical User Interface).

Alternate Shell:

Starts Safe Mode with a Command Prompt, without the Windows GUI. Requires knowledge of advanced text commands, as well as navigating the operating system without a mouse.

Active Directory Repair:

Starts Safe Mode with access to machine-specific information, such as hardware models. If we unsuccessfully install new hardware, corrupting the Active Directory, Safe Mode can be used to restore system stability by repairing corrupted data or adding new data to the directory.

Network:

Starts Safe Mode with the necessary services and drivers for networking, with the standard Windows GUI.




Now Select the Minimal option and click Apply, and OK. System Configuration will now ask if you want to restart your system. Selecting Restart will immediately initiate the restart process, so be sure to save any active documents or projects. Or Click Exit without restart button if you want to restart and boot into the Safe mode when you restart your PC for the next time.

Now When you Restart the Windows this will start your windows into safe mode. where you can perform Certain tasks like sfc utility to Repair Corrupt system files, Run Memory Diagnostic Tool To Fix Memory errors. or you can uninstall, Reinstall Specific Driver which creates problem to start windows. and also you can perform full system Scan to check for malware, virus scan.

Now After Complete the Troubleshooting you must uncheck the safe boot option from System Configuration, otherwise, it will boot your system into safe mode every time you start. To do this Again Press Win + R and type msconfig hit enter. when the system configuration opens move to the boot tab and uncheck the safe boot box bellow to Boot options. Now that’s all click apply and OK to make save changes. again windows will prompt Restart to take changes effect. when you Restart the system this will boot windows into normal mode.

Start Windows 10 into safe mode – Using Advanced Startup Options.

Also, you can use the Windows advance startup options to access the safe mode boot on windows 10. To do this first select the Start button in the lower-left corner of your screen, then select Settings. Select Update & security – Recovery. Under Advanced startup, select Restart now. This will prompt the Advanced startup screen.

Start Windows 10 into safe mode Using Shift + Restart

In The Same way, also you can hold the shift key on the keyboard and select windows to restart this will open the Advanced Startup Screen.

Here Select Troubleshoot – Advanced options – Startup Settings – Restart.

After your PC restarts, you’ll see a list of options. Select F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode. if you’ll need to use the Internet, select F5 for Safe Mode with Networking,  to enable “Safe Mode with Command Prompt” press F6.

When after the troubleshooting completes simply Restart the windows To Boot into Normal Mode.

Enable F8 Safe Mode On Windows 10 

On A Working Windows System, we can use the Advance startup option, system configuration to access the Safe Mode.  But When windows unable to start, So that how you can access the safe mode. Here we have a trick to Enable the F8 Key Safe mode Boot option for windows 10. To Enable this option you need to Boot windows from an installation media.




So First insert the installation media to DVD Drive and press Del key to access the BIOS setup. Here on boot options set first boot option to CD / DVD drive. Press F10 key to Make save changes. Now when windows Restarts press any key to boot from the installation media. Now skip the first screen by click next on install window Press Shift + F10 To open the command prompt.

Here On Command prompt screen type below command and hit the enter key.

After that and cancel the installation screen and Reboot the System. Next, while windows Boot the computer repeatedly, press and release F8 until the Advanced Boot Options menu pops up. Then you can select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking.
