Add .bak file extension to Default, Software, SAM, System and Security files to create their backups. To do so, type the following command in the command prompt window and press Enter after each:
- First type rename DEFAULT DEFAULT.bak and hit the enter key
- Then type rename SAM SAM.bak and hit the enter key
- next type rename SECURITY SECURITY.bak and hit the enter key
- Again type rename SOFTWARE SOFTWARE.bak and hit the enter key
- At last type rename SYSTEM SYSTEM.bak and hit the enter key.
- Now type copy c:\windows\system32\config\RegBack c:\windows\system32\ and hit enter key close command prompt.

Perform System Restore
