Starting with today’s build chrome 84 now block downloads for files that hosted on HTTP URLs. That means the Chrome browser now shows a visible warning for files downloaded via HTTP from HTTPS sites.
The “download warnings/blocks” will start with Chrome 84 and will only a small subset of file types in the beginning (executables in Chrome 84). Google said they’ll cover all the dangerous file types eventually, and plans to add new file types to be blocked with each new Chrome release until Chrome 88.
