Today Microsoft also released Windows 11 build 26080 for subscribers to the Dev and canary channels of the Insider program. The latest preview build includes a unified Teams client and a new undocked mode for Copilot. It also introduces a redesigned progress bar under app icons appearing on the taskbar, And you can now turn on live captions directly from quick settings. In addition, today’s build Introduced Power Automate plugin in Copilot in Windows, offers automation features for Excel, PDF manipulation, and file management. With today’s Windows 11 build 26080 (for insider preview) Microsoft introduces several enhancements to its Copilot assistant. With a new undocked mode, Copilot now functions as a resizable and movable application on the desktop, offering increased flexibility.

Moreover, the addition of a Power Automate plugin facilitates automated file management tasks, particularly with Excel and PDF files, streamlining workflows. Also, built-in Copilot capabilities now extend to activating accessibility features like Narrator and Live Captions, managing battery usage, displaying available Wi-Fi networks, and emptying the recycle bin.

Updates to Microsoft Teams in Windows 11

Microsoft Teams is receiving a major overhaul to provide a unified experience across personal and work accounts. Users will access Teams as a single application, allowing seamless switching between various cloud environments, tenants, and account types. This unified app simplifies account management and enhances flexibility for users with multiple Teams accounts.

To add or access additional accounts, select your profile picture at the upper right corner of Teams when you sign into Teams.

Additionally, joining Teams meeting becomes more convenient, with the ability to select the desired account and even join meetings without signing in.

Improved notifications will clearly indicate which Teams account they belong to  In addition, personal notifications have more details, giving clear and easy actions from the notification banner. Furthermore, you can launch both personal and work accounts simultaneously, each with separate icons on the taskbar.

The preview release of Microsoft Teams in Windows 11 introduces a unified experience labeled “Microsoft Teams (work or school)” for seamless switching between personal and work accounts. Notable changes include launching Teams into separate icons for single accounts and the removal of the standalone consumer app, “Microsoft Teams (free)”. Enterprise admins will gain the ability to sign in with Microsoft accounts through regular monthly updates, with functionality targeted for preview in April and general availability in May. This preview version is immediately available on clean installs of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26080 and higher, while existing Windows Insiders require version 24057.2000.2723.3544 or higher to access these features gradually.

In the latest update, Microsoft has introduced a quicker way to enable live captions through the new quick setting in the system tray, streamlining accessibility options.

Additionally, the design of the progress bar beneath app icons has been updated for enhanced visibility, visible both on the taskbar and Start menu. Moreover, when extracting files, users now have the option to apply their selected action (skip or replace) for all conflicts, improving efficiency in file management tasks.

Todays Build 26080 also addresses various issues and bugs across Windows 11. Fixes include resolving problems with Copilot icon display on the taskbar, memory leaks related to taskbar tooltips, File Explorer freezing and CPU usage spikes, persistence of preferences in File Explorer, search result inconsistencies, and cramped Details view. Other fixes involve Task Manager inaccuracies, HDMI audio, input switcher design, DWM hangs in Snipping Tool, cursor behavior anomalies, safe mode mouse and keyboard functionality, touchpad recognition after waking from sleep, and Settings crashes. Additionally, underlying issues affecting app and game crashes, bugchecks, and Windows Update troubleshooter errors have been addressed.

The update is available to download in Canary and Dev channels. If you have already enrolled Windows 11 Canary or dev channel head over to settings then Windows update check for the Updates button to download and install Windows 11 build 26080 on your device. You need to reboot your system and apply the changes.

Note: You can enroll your device in the Beta Channel using the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section.

Please note, if you’re new to the Windows Insider Program, ensure your device meets the minimum system requirements to receive the update. This ensures a seamless experience with the latest build of Windows 11.

Windows 11 system requirement

Unlike Windows 10, which is specially designed to run on older hardware, windows 11 requires relatively new hardware and does not install on older computers. Windows 11 also requires a hardware security component called Trusted Platform Module (TPM), along with UEFI firmware (no legacy BIOS allowed) and Secure Boot.

Microsoft official recommends the following system requirements for installing the latest Windows 11.

  • 8th-gen core CPU and newer, along with AMD Ryzen 2000 chips and up. ARM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 850, Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2, and newer are also supported.
  • At least 4GB of system memory (RAM).
  • At least 64GB of available storage.
  • A graphics processor that is compatible with DirectX 12 and Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) 2.0 or greater.
  • A monitor or display with at least 720 dots per inch resolution.
  • TPM – Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
