Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB4487017 & KB4486996 available for aka 1803 and 1709

Along with Windows 10 cumulative update KB4487044 for aka 1809 (October 2018 Update), Microsoft released Cumulative Update KB4487017 (OS Build 17134.590) for Windows 10 version 1803 (April 2018 Update) and KB4486996 (OS Build 16299.967) for version 1709 (Fall Creators update). According to company These Updates fully focused on resolving security vulnerabilities, but other non-security fixes are included too.




What’s New KB4487017 (OS Build 17134.590)?

Part of Microsoft patch Tuesday update, Windows 10 April 2018 Update receives Cumulative Update KB4487017 that bumps OS to Windows 10 Build 17134.590 that include below improvements and bug fixes.

  • Adds top-level domain support to HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) Preload for Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer 11.
  • Addresses an issue that prevents Microsoft Edge from connecting using an IP address.
  • Addresses an issue that fails to set the LmCompatibilityLevel value correctly. LmCompatibilityLevelspecifies the authentication mode and session security.
  • Addresses an issue that may prevent applications that use a Microsoft Jet database with the Microsoft Access 97 file format from opening.
  • Security updates to Microsoft Scripting Engine, Internet Explorer, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Graphics, Windows Input and Composition, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Server, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine.

KB4487017 appears to install correctly at this point, but again, we haven’t experienced too many issues with cumulative updates in the past.

Also Microsoft has released Security updates for Windows 10 1703 KB4487020 (OS Build 15063.1631), version 1607 KB4487026 (OS Build 14393.2791), and the original Windows 10 version (KB4467680 – Build 10240.18036). Only the November Update (version 1511) hasn’t received today’s updates.

You can install this update from Windows Update, and a system reboot will be required or you can force windows update to install the update.

  1. Open the Start Menu.
  2. Type Windows Updates and select the result.
  3. Select “check for updates” on the page that opens to run the check.
