If you have recently installed a security suite on your system, that might be preventing Windows 10 App Store from working. So try disabling the anti-virus and then check if Windows Store starts working for you.

Disable Proxy: Click the Start button, then the cog “Settings” icon. In the Settings window click “Network & Internet Proxy” in the pane on the left, and then make sure the “Use a proxy server” slider is switched off.

Install any pending updates on the PC to check, if that helps. (Settings -> update & Security -> windows update-> check for updates ) Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.

Then Run the troubleshooter and click Next to progress through the stages. It’ll automatically detect and fix any problems, if possible. If this doesn’t do then Open windows services ( press windows + R, type services.msc and ok ). Look for service named Windows Update, Right click on it and select stop. Do the same with BITS service.

Now navigate to C:\Windows and rename the folder named software distribution to software distribution.old. Again open windows services and start the services ( windows update, BITS ) which you stopped previously. Restart windows This will not only fix windows store problems also fix most of the windows update related problems.

Reinstall Windows 10 Store app

If applying above solutions not fix your problem simply reinstall the windows store app by following steps below. Which may be helpful for you.

To reinstall Windows Store in Windows 10, start PowerShell as Administrator. Click Start, type Powershell. In the search results, right-click “PowerShell” and click Run as administrator. In the PowerShell window, Type the following command and press enter.

Then scroll down locate the entry of the app that you want to reinstall and copy the package name. ( locate the Store, and then take note of its PackageFullName.)

Add-AppxPackage -register “C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\PackageFullName\appxmanifest.xml” -DisableDevelopmentMode

Note: replace the PackageFullName to the Store’s PackageFullName that you took note before.

Also you can run the command below to completely refresh/ reinstall all windows apps include Windows Store app.

Right click on Profiles, select Permissions, then click Advanced. Tick Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object then click apply and OK. After that restart windows and open windows store check its working properly.

Create New User Account

This is anohter effective way to fix windows store problems. Simply add another Microsoft account / Create a new user account by following the steps mentioned below and see if the problem persists:

To do this navigate to  Settings/>Accounts/>Your Account/> Family & other users.

On the right pane click Add someone else to this PC under Other users. If you have another Microsoft account try to use that or else follow the steps to sign-up for new and switch to new Microsoft account. Sign-out from the old and Login with new Microsoft account. Once you’re sign-in with new User Profile, then please work around and check if it helps you.

If you don’t have Microsoft account simply open command prompt as administrator. Type net user username password /add
