What’s New in Windows 11 KB5067036

This release focuses on expanding Copilot+ PC capabilities, a refreshed Start menu, smarter File Explorer actions, and better voice access and accessibility tools. It also includes several bug fixes, security updates, and performance optimizations to make Windows 11 more reliable and efficient.

Copilot+ PC Enhancements

Microsoft continues to expand AI-powered experiences with Click to Do, making Copilot interactions faster and more intuitive:

  • Quick Prompt Box – Type custom prompts or use on-screen suggestions powered locally by Phi-Silica.
  • Instant Translation – Select foreign text and Copilot will offer instant translation right within Click to Do.
  • Built-in Unit Conversions – Hover over numbers (like “5 km” or “70°F”) to instantly convert between units.
  • New Gestures & Selection Tools – Long-press with two fingers to open Click to Do, and use Freeform or Rectangle Selection to capture text, images, or tables.
  • Microsoft 365 Live Persona Cards – Quickly view organization profiles with Windows + Click on an email address.
  • Visual Highlights – Important items like emails and tables now glow when actionable via Copilot.

File Explorer Improvements

The File Explorer Home page has also been improved.

  • Quick Actions on Hover – When hovering over a file in File Explorer Home, you’ll now see “Open file location” and “Ask Copilot” shortcuts.
  • Recommended Files for All Accounts – File suggestions are now available for personal and local accounts.
  • New API for Cloud Providers – Cloud storage apps can now integrate better with File Explorer Home.

Start Menu Redesign

The Windows 11 start menu has been redesigned with A scrollable “All” apps section and two layout modes:

  • Category View groups apps by type (e.g., Work, Gaming, Productivity).
  • Grid View arranges them alphabetically for quick scanning.

Phone Link Integration adds a new button to show notifications and content from your connected phone (Android & iOS).

Other Enhancements

  • Settings: “Email & accounts” renamed to “Your accounts” for clarity.
  • Lock Screen & Taskbar: New color-coded battery icons (green = charging, yellow = battery saver, red = low).
  • Security: New Administrator Protection Preview adds “just-in-time” admin privileges for stronger endpoint security.
  • Windows Search: Improved and rolling out gradually to all Copilot+ PCs.

This update also addresses a wide variety of bug fixes and reliability improvements across Windows 11. Notable ones include:

  • Fixed an issue causing an ACCESS_DENIED error when users attempted to change passwords remotely on member servers or workgroup devices, even though required permissions were present.
  • Fixed an issue affecting the Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC) service on domain controllers—if the KDC service was manually stopped the server couldn’t retrieve Kerberos tickets.
  • Display fix: After recent updates, text might not render correctly when editing content within multiline text boxes in certain apps — this is addressed.
  • Installation / known-issue fixes: The Media Creation Tool (version 26100.6584) for Arm64 devices sometimes failed with “We’re not sure what happened…” message; addressed in this update.
  • Media/DRM fix: Protected content playback failures on some machines (after earlier update KB5064081) are now addressed.
  • Networking fix: Web servers using HTTP.sys (e.g., IIS) had incoming HTTP requests rejected with “NOT_SUPPORTED” error — resolved.
  • Screen-reader fix: Certain apps caused screen readers to unexpectedly say “legacy window” without reading out contents — now addressed.

Note: Many of the new AI features are designed specifically for Copilot+ PCs, which have dedicated hardware for AI processing. Some of these features are also rolling out gradually, meaning they may not be immediately available to all users.
