Apps won’t download/install in Microsoft Store After installing the Windows 10 update. You are not alone with this issue a number of users report “Cannot install apps from Microsoft store” After upgrading to Windows 10 22H2 update. While trying to download and install an app by clicking on “get it now” it starts loading for 0.5 sec, then the shop just refreshes and I can click on “get it now” again and again. Some others report Microsoft Store error 0x80070490 while trying to download applications from Microsoft Store. or Whenever I try to install an app, I get an error message: 0x80072F8F.

Fix App installation problems on the Microsoft store

There is the various reason that causes the issue it may be a corrupted store database, Microsoft Account causing the problem, security software (Antivirus) blocking the application from downloading, etc. Whatever the reason Here are some solutions you may apply to fix App installation problems on the Microsoft store include errors 0x80070490, 0x80072F8F, etc.

My suspicion is that changing the app save location to the “Windows” drive per your directions resolves the issue for new additions or purchases. However, if you have apps in the queue that may have been lingering there for a while, you’ll need to delete them from the queue and then re-add them. This will mostly resolve App download and installation issue on Microsoft Store.

  • Open the Microsoft Store,
  • Click your User Icon and choose to Sign out.
  • Then Search for an App you want to download and click ‘Get’ Sign back into your Account.

  • Press Windows Key + X then select Settings
  • Next click Update & security then Troubleshoot and click on Additional troubleshooters
  • Scroll down and locate Windows Store Apps, Select it
  • Now Click Run the Troubleshooter,

This will scan your system and detect any problems that might be preventing any Windows Store apps from working correctly. If problems are detected then the troubleshooter will try to resolve these. It may not be able to fix them or it might not even find any issues in the first place but definitely, it’s very useful and you must try this before applying any other solutions.

Clear Windows Store cache

Clearing the Windows Store cache helps to resolve issues with installing or updating apps. And it resets the Microsoft Store without changing account settings or deleting installed apps.

To reset the windows store

  • Press Windows Key + R to open Run, then input wsreset.exe and click OK.
  • A blank Command Prompt window will open, but rest assured that it’s clearing the cache.
  • After about ten seconds the window will close and the Store will open automatically.
  • Now Try to download and install an app from the Microsoft Store and check if it helps.

  • Click on apps then Apps and Features,”
  • Scroll down and locate “Store’ in your list of Apps & Features. Click it,
  • Click the “Advanced Options,” link and in the new window click Reset.

You’ll receive a warning that you’ll lose data on this app. Click “Reset” again, and you’re done. Restart windows and open the Windows store app try to download an application it’s completed.

Try Different User Account

Again a problem with user account profiles also causes different problems include prevent download and install apps from the Microsoft store. We recommend create a new user account following the steps below and check if this helps.

To create a user account on Windows 10:

  • Press the Keyboard shortcut Windows + X and select settings,
  • Click on Accounts then Family & other users
  • On the right pane, click Add someone else to this PC under Other users.

If you have another Microsoft account try to use that or else follow the steps to sign-up for a new and switch to a new Microsoft account. Sign out from the old one and log in with a new Microsoft account. Once you’re sign-in with a new User Profile, then please workaround and check if it helps you.

If you don’t have a Microsoft account simply open the command prompt as administrator. Type net user username password /add

Log off from the current user account and log in with the newly created user account to check the store app working properly.

Update windows 10

Microsoft regularly updates the operating system with the latest bug fixes and security improvements. Installing the latest windows updates may have a bug fix for this problem prevent windows store apps download.

  • Press the Windows key + I to open the settings app,
  • Click on update and security then hit the check for updates button,
  • This will check for the latest available updates, if any updates are pending there it will download and install automatically on your PC.
  • Once done reboot your PC to apply the changes.
  • Now open the Microsoft store and try to download any of the apps or games.

Windows 10 update

  • In addition press the windows key + R, type ms-windows-store and click ok to open Microsoft store,
  • Click on the Library icon located in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Now click on the Get updates button located on the right side to check if there are available updates for your apps, including the Microsoft Store.

Reinstall Microsoft Store App

If all the above solutions fail to fix the issue simply Right-click on Windows Start > Right-click on Windows Powershell (Admin) > Copy the following form below and right-click in Powershell to paste > Enter To uninstall Windows store app And restart windows.

Get-AppxPackage -allusers *WindowsStore* | Remove-AppxPackage

Again on the next login open PowerShell (admin) Copy the following form below and right-click in Powershell to paste > Enter > Reboot your computer and check this time you are able to download apps from Microsoft Store.

Get-AppxPackage -allusers *WindowsStore* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

If you’re getting a connection error when downloading an app or updating an app,  Here the registry tweak helps you.

  • Press Windows + R, type Regedit and click ok to open the windows registry editor,
  • First Backup Registry Database then navigates to the following key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles

  • Here Right-click on Profiles, select Permissions, then click Advanced.
  • Tick Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object then click apply and OK.
  • After that restart windows and open Microsoft, store check it’s working properly.
