Today’s update introduces various features, enhancements, and fixes designed to refine the user experience and improve system functionality.
This update introduces Jump List support for pinned apps in the Start menu, Make it easier to access app-specific actions. Holding “Shift” and “Ctrl” while selecting an item from the Jump List now opens it with administrative privileges, both from the Start menu and Taskbar.
Additionally, the Taskbar now defaults to displaying a compact version of the date and time, you can adjust it via the “Time & Language” settings. The bell icon for notifications is removed when the “Do Not Disturb” mode is active, though unread messages can still be accessed through the date and time button. For users opting to auto-hide the Taskbar, the search box is replaced by a search icon, and provides a cleaner look.
The “Touch” settings page now includes options to enable or disable left or right screen edge gestures. In the “Privacy & Security” section, a new toggle lets users disable “Personalized Offers,” which prevents the system from collecting device data to customize the user experience. This option is also featured during the Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE). The “Dynamic Lighting” settings now show a placeholder message when no compatible devices are connected, automatically disabling brightness and effects controls.
The file explorer now allows direct file sharing with Android devices via the context menu, streamlining cross-device file transfers. The update also resolves a bug that caused extra spacing in the left pane and fixes rendering issues with the search box when using a compact window.
Task Manager now supports dark mode and text scaling in “Disconnect” and “Logoff” dialogues, enhancing usability. Windows Search has been fortified with LPACs (Less Privileged App Containers), making IFilters more secure and protecting the system from potential threats.
The Narrator tool now includes two new shortcuts: “Skip past links (N’)” and “Jump to lists (L’).” Speech-to-text and text-to-speech features receive significant improvements, with language files now being delivered via the Microsoft Store.
Mouse settings have been expanded to include a new option for changing the scrolling direction and toggling enhanced mouse pointers. Display-related bugs, including desktop element rendering issues, have also been addressed.
The update also resolves various problems, including issues with the DISM and Get-WindowsCapability commands, Windows Update, JPG rendering, and HTML Applications (HTA). It also introduces fixes for the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), RAW format images, exporting chart objects, and the Game Bar.
