But what if the Microsoft Store stops working or goes missing from Windows 10? Before getting started we recommend check for and install the latest Windows updates.

  • Press Windows + I keyboard shortcut to open the settings app,
  • Click on Update & security than Windows update,
  • Now click the Check for updates button to allow Windows updates download from Microsoft server,
  • Once complete download windows updates, restart your PC to apply them
  • Now again check if you get back Microsoft store working state.

Use Windows Store Troubleshooter

Windows 10 comes with a built-in Store app Troubleshooting option that can be used to find errors in many Windows apps and services. Run the troubleshooter following the steps below and let the windows fix the problem itself.

  • Open settings app using Windows + I keyboard shortcut key,
  • Click Update & security then troubleshoot,
  • Now on the right-hand side select Windows store apps then click Run troubleshooter,
  • This will automatically detect and fix problems related to the Microsoft store app
  • Restart Windows and check if this helps to fix Microsoft store app problems.

Reset Windows Store Cache

  • Press Windows Key + R then type “wsreset.exe” and hit enter.
  • Let the command run which will reset your Windows Store cache.
  • When this is done restart your PC to save changes.

Reset Microsoft Store

With Win 10 Anniversary Update, Microsoft added the option to Reset the Windows Apps. That Clear their Cache Data And Essentially Making them like New And Fresh.   • To do this open setting using Windows + I keyboard shortcut,
  • Click on Apps then Apps and Features,”
  • Now scroll down to “Microsoft  Store’ in your list of Apps & Features.
  • Click it, then click “Advanced Options,” and in the new window click Reset.
  • You’ll receive a warning that you’ll lose data on this app.
  • Click “Reset” again, and you’re done.

Re-Register Microsoft Store

In the Windows search type Powershell then right-click on Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator. Now type the following in the Powershell and hit enter:

Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Run DISM command

Open the Command Prompt as an administrator, to do this type cmd on the start menu search right click on the command prompt and select run as administrator. Then type the following commands in the Command Prompt and press enter after each command.

  • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
  • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
  • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Run the DISM command. If the above command doesn’t work on your device, use this alternative command.

  • Dism /Image:C:\offline /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:c:\test\mount\windows
  • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:c:\test\mount\windows /LimitAccess

Restart your PC to save the changes and check if the Microsoft Store issue is fixed or not.

Manually Repair Microsoft Store

  1. First, download this ZIP file by clicking here.
  2. Paste this zip file in C:\Users\Your_Username\Desktop. Note: replace Your_Username with your actual account username.
  3. From the Windows search type Powershell. Right-click and select Run as administrator
  4. Now, type the following commands and hit Enter after each command.
  5. Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted (press Y and Enter if the program asks you to change the execution policy)
  6. cd C:\Users\Your_Username\Desktop (change Your_Username to your actual username).\reinstall-preinstalledApps.ps1 *Microsoft.WindowsStore* 
  7. Now again Press Windows Key + R then type “wsreset.exe” and hit enter. to reset the Windows Store Cache.
  8. Now type this command into PowerShell and press Enter: Set-ExecutionPolicy AllSigned
  9. Restart your PC, to save changes.

Create a New User Account in Windows

Microsoft store still missing on windows 10. Then try to create a new user account, which is a very helpful solution to get it back.

  • To create a new user account open settings and Accounts.
  • Here find an option called Family and Other People from the left side.
  • At the bottom, there is an option to add someone else to this PC. Click it.
  • Click on the option called I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.
  • Next select Add a user without a Microsoft account at the bottom.
  • The next thing to do is to type in a new username and password of your choice and then click Next.           

Sign in using the newly created account and then check whether your Microsoft Store is working or not. If it works then there was some problem with your old account. Transfer your files from the old account to the new account and delete the old account.
