  • In the dialogue box, type Powershell

  • Wait for the process to finish, and after completion, restart the computer
  • Now check again to see if the Start Menu and Cortana are back to normal.

Run System file checker utility

There might be possible that your system has some corrupted processing files, causing critical error. Run the build in system file checker utility that scan and restore missing corrupted system files with correct one.

  • Open the command prompt as administrator,
  • Perform DISM restore health command : Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  • Then run SFC utility command: sfc /scannow and press enter key
  • Restart windows after complete the scanning process

  • Also, boot into safe mode and create a new user account by following steps below.
  • open an elevated command prompt window, type the following and hit Enter

net user username /add
